Islander Philippines | Live Slippers Mosaic 2018

I'm pretty sure that most Filipinos own (or have worn) a pair of Islander slippers. This proudly Philippine-made brand has been in the industry for decades, offering good quality footwear that guarantees affordability.

When I was younger, whenever my parents shop for flipflops at department stores, they'd go straight to the corner of Islander. "Matibay 'to," my dad would often boast. True enough, the pairs would last for years. Fast forward to 2018, the brand is still very much alive and remains the country's leading footwear brand.

Last October 15, 2018, Islander conducted a giant live mosaic inspired by the Philippine flag featuring 8,000 pairs of slippers in SM Megamall. The best part is that it was done for a cause.

All pairs were donated to 9 different beneficiaries:

He Cares Mission
Yapak Pinas
Child Hope Philippines
Prison Ministry Correctional Institution
Anawin Lay Missions Foundation
Philippine Jesuit Foundation
Tondo District of Manila
Children of Dagat-Dagatan District
Payatas Orione Foundation

It was humbling to witness this event. There were videos shown to understand every beneficiary and I was deeply moved. Kudos to Islander for coming up with such event. Loud and proud!
