Sea-panx with Flotsam and Jetsam

Major sea-panx for the amazing days we spent at La Union. Finally back at my favorite escape place after 2 years.

I badly needed this break. Things have been tough over the past months but I never had the chance to leave until this week. We actually almost postponed this because of the destructive typhoon, Lawin (Haima), but the universe knew we deserved this trip and allowed us to push as planned.

This, by far, is the best trip I’ve had in my entire life.

We drove Thursday midnight, hoping for safe roads and clear skies. I remember Deo and I held each other tightly while whispering our prayers before we took off. We were bound to take a journey to the unknown.

We expected to arrive in time for sunrise, but we already saw the signs of Flotsam and Jetsam around 3:00AM. The hostel was closed so we walked towards the beach; there were no lights except from our mobile phones, and we only relied on the sound of the waves. Strange yet beautiful.

Shortly after, we spotted the caretaker from the kitchen bar area. Good thing he knew where we were staying!

Top of the morning, La Union! Now, wouldn’t you want to wake up with this room and view? ♥

Flotsam and Jetsam accommodated us at the Sea View Queen with Balcony. Heard that’s their best room, and from our experience, it’s indeed the perfect one - seemed like we were in paradise!

I’ll feature the rest of the rooms of Flotsam and Jetsam in a separate blog post! You guys should stay tuned for that!

Breakfast time! Cereals, bread, and coffee, while looking at the lovely sea. It was so sunny at La Union, like the place didn’t experience any typhoon hours prior.

Oh, and by the way, this backpack from Herschel’s Surplus Collection was my trip buddy! I love how stylish and spacious it is; it carried all my stuff for 3 days! Overview: I brought a few tops, shorts, extra flipflops, a pouch full of bikini sets, toiletry kit, camera, and laptop!

More about this bag plus OOTD soon!

Just us and the sea. How beautiful it is to relive the way we laughed as the waves crashed along the shore while we were lying down. Those moments - appreciating the view, our relationship, and the life that we have - are the most precious ones. I’m grateful for a lot of things, and extremely thankful for Miguel Deo.

Really, what’s not to love about this person? ☆

Dinner hosted by Flotsam and Jetsam! They served Margherita Pizza, Chicken Wings, Onion Rings, and a couple of drinks. It was the kind of Friday night we needed. :)

Everything tasted so good! Not exaggerating! Deo's really meticulous with food and he liked all that they served to us, so that's something else! ;)

Night life at Flotsam and Jetsam’s the bomb! When you’re there, don’t miss Jeff Ortega’s 5-minute drink! I’m not the type to get tipsy in one glass, but that one made me dizzy af! Trufax, hahaha!

Day two at paradiso! Woke up to the best view - sun, waves, Deo. I couldn’t ask for more. Surreal. These are the moments I’ll remember all my life.

Favorites for breakfast: cereals, bread and Makai Bowl. When you’re at La Union, make sure to try out the healthy smoothie bowls at Flotsam and Jetsam. We tried the Amianan (dragon fruit smoothie bowl) and Carille (chocolate smoothie bowl), and they’re both super delicious and refreshing!

Long walks by the beach! Our friends recommended Sea Nymph Cafe, which was on the other side of San Juan, so we gave it a try for lunch.

We also visited San Juan Surf for refreshments. It’s been a while! I missed this spot! Here's my LU blog post 2 years ago.

Aside from some activities and lots of eating, I spent pretty much the entire weekend staring at the waves and my life partner. This quick escape brought too much feels and realizations; I got overwhelmed and emotional. I’ve said this before, but really, I never knew I have this capacity to love until I met Deo. He’s my rock, my source of happiness and strength. Amazing how he’s also my life line - for a reason only the two of us will understand.

Nag-iisang tiyak sa isang libong duda. Silong sa iyak at pagluluksa. Kung puso ko ay imamapa, ikaw ang dulo, gitna't simula. Nahanap din kita, nahanap din kita.

More about this lovely trip in my next blog post! Might squeeze in a few back logs in between, but hope you’ll stay up for it!
