Restaurant 101: Fine Dining Experience for P440.00

Being big foodies, Deo and I are always on the look out for good places to dine at - from budget carinderias to fine dining restaurants. If you're following me on Instagram, you know my stories can attest to that! :p Thought of sharing one of our new favorites which has the perfect balance of affordability and quality - Restaurant 101, McKinley Hill.

Fine dining experience for only Php440.00? 101 made it possible for us!

In case you haven't heard of 101 yet, it's the application restaurant of Enderun Colleges (home to Southeast Asia's leading culinary center - Alain Ducasse Institute Philippines). In here, you will enjoy Asian dishes with the techniques of traditional French cuisines in an elegant Parisian bistro setting.

101 offers a 3-course prefix meal for only Php440.00 which changes daily, so there's nothing but freshness and uniqueness each time you visit. Certainly, you can hold your dates, meetings, and other special occasions at 101 without hurting your pockets.

Deo and I had these from our last visit:

Kani Salad (Appetizer)

Healthy greens with crunchy crab sticks, spicy mayonnaise, and sesame seeds

These were really good, I wanted to get another plate! Right now, I'm actually craving as I type. Save me!

Homemade Corned Beef with Warm Potato Salad, Horseradish Cream, and Glazed Vegetables (Main)

Name says it all! Not the pulled corned beef that most Filipinos are accustomed to, but these briskets are really delicious especially with those sides.

Mango Mousse (Dessert)

Creamy, smooth, and flavorful dessert to satisfy our sweet tooth!

Aside from the 3-course meal, they also have an extensive menu of appetizers, soups, main courses, and desserts available everyday. Would love to try out their Rack of Lamb or Beef Wellington soon!

At 101, one visit is not enough! Let their next prefix menu surprise you. :)

To reserve, call 856 5000 local 101. They're open from Monday to Saturday; 11:30AM-2:00PM for lunch, and from 6:00PM-10:00PM for dinner.

Best Hair Conditioner for Summer!

Every summer, I tend to change my skincare and hair care routines. I feel like my body demands something more refreshing and hydrating because of the daily scorching heat.

Just to share, my skin became very sensitive after the drastic change in weather - cold, dry nights to extremely hot days. From religiously following this skin regimen, I had to switch my facial wash to Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, and added the Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist as my last step. I've yet to explore the products that I need to change or add along the way.

Thankfully, my tresses won't go through trial and error anymore because Cream Silk has already figured things out for me. They released the NEW Limited Edition Cream Silk Fresh Hydration, a conditioner designed specifically to combat summer dryness.

Best part? This conditioner can transform your hair to feel hydrated from the first wash! Recently, I tried it first hand and witnessed how my hair went silky and fresh, without the greasy feel.

If you're off to the beach this long weekend, make sure to bring the Cream Silk Fresh Hydration with you. After being exposed to the sun (probably from swimming or water sports), wash with shampoo and this conditioner. Leave it on for a minute then rinse well. You'll get surprised by how this product can give your crowning glory 24 hours of long-lasting freshness!

Only SRP Php109.00 for 170ml and Php197.50 for 340ml. Available in leading supermarkets and drugstores nationwide.

2018 Activities to do in Misibis Bay

If you haven't been to Misibis Bay yet, consider booking at this private island as soon as you can. This hidden gem in Albay has given me the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. It's the escape we all need and deserve.

Note: Misibis Bay Resort is completely safe from the 7KM Extended Danger Zone. Mt. Mayon is situated 40KM from the resort and 12KM from Legazpi Airport.

If you can't score low airfare rates, you can reach Misibis Bay via a 10-hour bus ride (straight to Sto. Domingo).

We left Manila around 2:00PM (Friday) and reached Misibis Bay by 5:30AM (Saturday). Longer trip than usual since we had several stops for food and washroom breaks. Traveling by land can get really tiring, but as soon as we entered our room, I felt so refreshed and pumped up again!

11 Things You Can Do in Misibis Bay

1. Rest and recharge at the prettiest accommodation - their Premier Pacific View

White, crisp, cozy. We stayed at the Premier Pacific View room, located at the new wing, which has the comfiest beds, a lovely bath tub in the middle of our room, and the best view of the resort's beach and pool.

Out of all the hotels that I've stayed in, our room in Misibis Bay is definitely my favorite.

Oh, and by the way, upon arriving at Misibis Bay, their staff gave us welcome drinks, a customized beaded bracelet, and this beautiful bayong made by local weavers in Albay. Guests can place their stuff in this bag while roaming around the resort. So nice!

2. Paddleboarding

Fact: I'm always at the beach but I don't know how to swim. However, in the past years, I have surfed, snorkeled, and dived. My fears won't stop me from living to the fullest!

In this trip, I've tried the stand up paddleboarding for the first time. For some reason, this activity made me feel so calm - I got to think about my life (no joke) while balancing myself on the board.

3. Drive the jet ski

Another first for me: driving the jet ski! I've ridden this in Palawan before but I was just a passenger. At Misibis, Deo drove first, then I took over and he taught me how to operate. Speeding up the jet ski to 70kph with my boyfriend behind me was one of the best feelings in the world. Not to mention, it was almost sunset. So delightful and liberating.

4. Enjoy sunset cocktails and snacks at 5 Views

The staff reminded us about our next spot so we rushed to our rooms to get dressed. We rode a van to 5 Views, a place with 5 views of 5 different mountains including Mt. Mayon. In here, we had cocktails and snacks. Stunning.

5. Candlelight Dinner

No photos but watch out for Deo's vlog episode for the clips!

We got back to the hotel around 7:00PM. The staff led us to the beach area for a private dinner setup that they've prepared for us. You can request for this, too, perfect for romantic dates... or wedding proposals! ;)

6. Rejuvenate at Essenses Spa

After the long ride from Manila to Albay plus a day packed with activities, Deo and I capped off the night with a calming Signature Full Body Massage at Essenses. It was so good!

7. Ride the ATV

The next day, we woke up early to ride the ATV, in time for sunrise. Our adrenalines were on a high at 5:30AM! Lol. Deo drove around the Eco-Energy Park. The entire experience was challenging since the roads were intensely rocky going uphill, but it was totally fulfilling to see a majestic view of the Ampitheater, Albay Gulf and Pacific Ocean.

Our guide also surprised us with bread and coffee upon reaching the hilltop. So breathtaking.

8. Snorkeling at their marine sanctuary

The farthest and deepest I've been to in the ocean! I didn't have a go-pro with me to document the experience, but I think that's okay because I really got to "be" in the moment. In fairness, Misibis Bay has a healthy marine life, rich with different fish types and corals.

9. Woven Hat Making

Unfortunately, we weren't able to try the Woven Hat Making since we had such a packed schedule. This is how the hats look like!

10. Dine at Spice Market

After showering and preparing for check-out, we had lunch at Spice Market, a restaurant inside Misibis that offers local Bicolano flavors as well as international dishes.

Not in the photo: Bicol Express which we had for lunch and dinner the day before. :p

And of course, your stay at Albay won't be complete without sili ice cream! It tasted like your good ol' vanilla but with a kick. Irresistible!

11. See the Mayon Volcano upclose

During our ride from Misibis Bay to Legazpi Airport, we FINALLY saw the Mayon Volcano upclose. Despite the recent eruptions and consistent lava flows, it still has its lovely cone - a view that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

With our friends from When In Manila - Blew and JP!

Truly grateful for this trip. Thank you for the wonderful getaway, Misibis Bay!

2018 Best Spots & Must-Trys in Cebu, Philippines

Oh, what I wouldn't give to be back in this beautiful city. It's so easy to fall in love with Cebu ❤

You probably know that in 2017, Deo and I poured our lives out in building our business (Little Bistro - Shibusa 渋さ - Wild Kinjo). Summer break and all long weekends have passed, and we never got to go on a vacation. Hashtag no complains though, because we fully love and embrace being restaurateurs!

However, the universe probably noticed how hard working we were and granted us an amazing trip before capping off 2017. Deo and I flew to Cebu and stayed there for 3 days, all thanks to our favorite juice brand, Locally.

Watch my vlog episode (720HD or 1080HD) dedicated for this trip! Makulit at masaya!

The Locally team arranged our flight and accommodation. We flew via Philippine Airlines and stayed at the Ocean Wing of Shangri-La Mactan, a luxury 5-star resort in Cebu.

Our room was huge with a private balcony and bath tub. But on top of their stunning amenities, we LOVE how accommodating their service team is. Had a good chat with the Ocean Wing Manager, she even booked us at the best table in Cowrie Cove (which you'll see later). The front office team also offered shuttle services from the resort to SM City Cebu so we can go around the city. Hay, I love Shangri-La Mactan!

Lunch at Zubuchon

Zubuchon Lechon (1/2kg) - Php240.00

Still the best for me! Deo and I crave for this everyday since we came back to Manila!

Baked Scallops - Php220.00

Scallops rich in cheese, melts in your mouth! Yum!

Dinner at Cowrie Cove, Shangri-La Mactan

We got back at Shangri-La Mactan around 7:00PM. The drive from the main city to Mactan is roughly about an hour.

The two photos above were taken at Cowrie Cove where we had dinner. We were seated at the best spot - beside the ocean, under the stars. Exactly what you want for a romantic night.

 Lunch at Circa 1900

Thank heavens Uber's also available in Cebu! We drove to the city to dine at Circa 1900. They said this ancestral cluster is one of Cebu's most romantic places. And when we arrived, there were several wedding ceremonies happening. We thought we won't be accommodated, but their staff escorted us to CICADA, a speak-easy spot that serves casual comfort food.

Roast Tomato Soup with Herb Focaccia Bread - Php135.00

Sesame Seared Rare Tuna with Soy Miso Dressing & Japanese Pickles - Php220.00

Southern Fried Chicken with Wedges - Php295.00

Diosdado (Absolute Vodka Vanilla, House White Wine, Calamansi Juice, Sugar Syrup, Lemon Wheel, Pear Fruit, Cinnamon) - Php200.00

Cicada looks fancy! :)

Dinner at The Pyramid

The Pyramid is situated at West Geonzon Street, a couple of blocks away from Circa 1900. Deo and I decided to walk (for around 20 minutes, lol) because Uber fare's a bit high and they were just a few kilometers away. Relied on Waze so we won't get lost! :p

Aglio Olio with Shrimp - Php220.00

French Macarons - Php35.00/pc
Caramel Latte - Php145.00

After dining at The Pyramid, we took an Uber to Ayala Center Cebu to do pasalubong shopping. Here's a quick price list of what we bought:

✓ Keychains (from a stall) - Php35.00/pc
✓ Coin Purse (from a stall) - Php25.00/pc
✓ Sinulog T-Shirts (from Island Souvenirs) - Php199.00/shirt
✓ Dried Mangoes - Php50.00/pack

12:30PM - Hotel Check-out
2:00PM - Lunch at Rico's Lechon
4:30PM - Arrival at Mactan International Airport
7:20PM - Departure from Cebu to Manila (via Philippine Airlines)

Another breakfast buffet but this time, we ate at Acqua in Shangri-La Mactan. This restaurant is located in the Ocean Wing, so we had a lovely view of the beach and swimming pool while having breakfast. No better way to start the day! :)

Made the most out of our remaining hours in Shangri-La Mactan through water activities at their white-sand beach and pristine waters! Had a lovely time swimming with their schools of tropical fish!

Lunch at Rico's Lechon

Cannot miss dining at the crowd-favorite Rico's Lechon! We visited their branch along the Airport Road, and even at 2PM, the place was packed!

We ordered 1/2kg Original Lechon (Php315.00) and 1/4kg Spicy Lechon (Php215.00). Of course, Pinoy meals aren't complete without a platter of Garlic Fried Rice (Php135.00)!

Buko Pandan - Php90.00

Flight from Cebu to Manila

The boeing plane we rode back home was really huge, we had a spacious leg room (every traveler's dream!) and a screen to watch the latest movies at. We also had in-flight snacks! I love Philippine Airlines! :)

And of course, I'd like to thank the Locally team for making this trip possible for Deo and I. We lived in paradise for 3 days, but also got to #LivinLovinLocally around Cebu! ;) Frankly speaking, even without this amazing travel, Locally will still be my favorite juice brand and my friends can attest to that. ❤

So if you spot any Locally drinks near you, make sure to try out their uniquely indigenous local flavors! You won't regret it!

Merci buco, Locally! ;)
